New Video: Red Bull Flow Combo in Koblenz

    September 15th, 2009

Camilo - Matti - WaldemarThe “Red Bull Flow Combo” contest went down in Koblenz /Germany last Sunday, where Germany’s best flatlanders teamed up in pairs and threw down their hottest moves for a chance to win two plane tickets to the “King of Ground” in Japan. The weather forecast for the weekend was pretty grim, but fortunately it only rained a little bit and the contest was over before it really started to pour.

In the end Team Berlin won the comp, thanks to the high-speed combos of Camilo Guiterrez and the ever-so-consistent riding of Matti Röse. If you want to know what you missed out on, than you should really check out our clip from the event. Enjoy!

NEW VIDEO: SIMPEL SUMMER SESSION 09

    September 11th, 2009

    Simpel Session…Tallinn, Estonia…winter…great parties…best contest of the year…freezing cold and snow outside…

So why shouldn‘t it be a great contest in summer too?!

Maybe thats what Risto and the other guys behind Simpel Session thought again and made a Summer Simpel Session happen on the 29th of August in Tallinn again.Tallinn Simpel Summer Session 09

This year the contest took place at the just recently opened Vabaduse Väljak (liberty square), which is right in the city centre of Tallinn. Even  though the weather wasn‘t that great, actualy it sucked and it was raining a lot, everyone had a good time and in the end the weather god was kind enough to let the riders enjoy the wessel designed park. Again everyone could see how many talented riders are coming out from the baltics and they were „competing“ against riders from all over europe. Daniel Dhers and Catfish came over to have a good time too!  So again this was a great contest with a great mood and some funny „side events“ to entertain the riders and spectators including a bunch of people worshipping the king of pop or the winner of the first Simpel Sessions doing flips for the crowd while it was raining…

Thanks Risto and everyone who worked behind the scenes for this great contest! see you in february!

    ffwdbmx Germany Roadtrip

    July 18th, 2009

ffwdbmxgermanytripYo! The guys from ffwdbmx (Mike King) just sent us over this new clip. If you have been following the recent posts of ffwdbmx here on soulbmx you may have noticed that ffwdbmx has quite a few clips up. Mike is doing a good job and we are psyched he keeps the vids flowing through our inbox. Here some words from the editor in chief about the short trip to Berlin and Cologne:

“every year we fly from england to the bmx masters in cologne, but this year, especially after hearing the threats of mellow park being torn down, we  decided to stay there for a few days, and enjoy europes best skatepark while we still had the chance. Ollie, Sam, James, Thomas, Josh and myself got to the airport friday evening, and chilled all night untill our filght early morning saturday.
We arrived in sunny berlin early morning, and decided a few hours kip was a sensible idea, however, the excitement got the better of us, and after building our bikes up in record time, we took to the park despite having absolutely no sleep at all. It didnt take long for us to retreat, myself and Thomas both got punctures in our first runs, so we hit the sack for a few hours, waking up at 6 that evening to torrential rain, so we resorted to alcohol…

The next four days we were graced with sunshine, and rode the park all day, jumped in the river to cool off, a few games of ping pong and table tennis, and a couple of beers to wind down with a group of awesome people. We also hit up another park we’d heard about, a wooden park a few miles down the road in the middle of the nowhere, surrounded by trees, and with no locals in sight, we enjoyed the park to ourselves, james and sean both killed it as you will see in the edit.

Wednesday we packed up and flew to cologne, it had been an awesome few days in berlin, and despite thomas’ gnarly slam resulting in a bruised tail bone and swollen butt, we were all pretty sad to leave.
when we arrived in cologne the sun was shining, there was not a cloud in sight and everyone was getting physched, however, this wouldnt last long.. Friday, saturday and sunday cologne was haunted by that big grey rain cloud, which continued to tease us, between outbreaks of heavy rain, allowing the park to dry, and then as soon as we were just about ready to go ahead and continue the contest, the heavens would open again. Spine mini went straight to finals and with the jumps being under the bridge, dirt ran successfully and vert was just about squeezed in too.
but the majority of us were left empty handed with pro park being completely cancelled along with the 30 remaining amateur riders who were yet to take their runs.

Luckily, we werent flying home untill Tuesday, so we had all day Monday to enjoy a reasonably empty course, clock some footy and explore the town.
all in all, despite the rain, the trip was awesome, it would have been great to have rode the contest, but oh well, we got to enjoy the things that bmx is really about, travelling to a new place with your best friends, riding your bike in the sunshine, having a few beers and spending 10 days straight with a smile on your face.”

Well, sound pretty good. Nuff said, watch the clip!!

Rheinkultur, a huge musical festival in Bonn, Germany, went down last weekend and we checked out the BMX demos there, put on by Sven Lehmann, Tim Eichert and Tino Schnecke.
The sun was blazing, people were partying and the riders threw down some good tricks that you can check out right HERE.
